LUMEN 9

LUMEN 9

This image originated from an idea that I brought home with me from the hospital in May of the year 2000. When the idea came to me, the only thing I had to draw on was an advisory pamphlet for patients, so I used the back of it for a rough sketch of the composition. I carried the idea in my head for years afterwards and didn’t get around to executing the painting until ten years later.

As in all my Lumen works, the essential metaphor is that of a figure making his or her way past great obstacles towards an opening, a source of light.

Nothing is more interisting than art. Work is also interesting. Certain topics like science and art are interisting and should’nt get on the way. I like art looking at it and not afraid to understand it. I think that, that should be the disscussion. Maybe art is a vision or more.

I used to work at this place a large store, thats where they had these pencils and everything. So I really was a fan of Science Fiction art. I knew that they had alot of these books and alot them are interesting. And now I showed up in this place Disqus or disscussion of a place. But still a place to talk about books.

It’s easy for me to imagine myself inside the painting, and it’s a breathtaking experience : the light, the space, everything.

Science is very interesting. There are certain topics about Science, like books, studies, animals. I also like to look at art. I think sometimes artist they draw cool things. And I also like to draw. I draw things like plants, bugs, animals. I try not to get out of topic. Maybe thats what the artist is talking about, that there is light and hope. Though I cant explain it further I also saw that there was a cloke. So I dug at it further thats what it was. I try to do a sharing and everything. Anyways Philosophy, Science and Art.

Last time I was watching the picture and I didnt really have the time to look at all of it. There is something about the colors or something I did’nt mention. I really believe that we should all look at it very carefully. Though I admit I get wrecklessly tired and be perfect in so many ways. I really don’t mind it. I was sharing that idea, the idea of taking our time to look at the picture.

I was looking at these rocks, like the ones they had in the drawing. I thought they were interesting. I was also still, looking at the art. There is a meaning to it, hope, light and the colors far out. The art is great, to study it, the philosophy, the science, the art.

The thing about all of these, is that something that that was there. There was Science and Art and mostly about drawings. There are squares, rectangles, colors and sometimes crosses. I did’nt have the time to study it all.
