UNWINDING
The paintings in The End of Nature series are concerned with our relationship to the environment and how we need to care for it. Here, the young boy takes a moment to just enjoy it.
This began as a doodle in one of my pocket sketchbooks over ten years ago, and the idea has been floating around in my head ever since—around the time I was working on illustrations for King’s The Little Sisters of Eluria judging from the surrounding pages.
I’m sure I’ll continue to explore the thoughts behind this in a larger painting, but for now at least I’ve got a small-scale visualization of it.
