LOCUS AWARDS 2013

Among the Locus Awards announced this weekend in Seattle, Michael Whelan won for Best Artist, his 29th Locus Award. Coincidentally the announcement came on Michael’s 63rd birthday on June 29.

The winners were selected through Locus Magazine’s annual readers’ poll, which was established in the early ’70s specifically to provide recommendations and suggestions to Hugo Awards voters. Locus Magazine has been covering the science fiction and fantasy field since 1968.

We’d like to extend thanks to the readers and congratulations to all those recognized this weekend, including other esteemed nominees in the Artist category: Donato Giancola, Stephan Martiniere, John Picacio, and Shaun Tan.
