RETURN TO OSTEN ARD

Michael Whelan has agreed to illustrate the covers for The Last King of Osten Ard, a new trilogy by Tad Williams, sequel to Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn—a series that is widely considered not only Williams’ best work but some of the finest literary fantasy produced.

The Witchwood Crown, first of the new books, is tentatively scheduled for spring of 2016 from DAW Books and will be followed by Empire of Grass and The Navigator’s Children. Williams’ official website said of the new series:

In this new trilogy, Williams journeys back to the magical land of Osten Ard and continues the story of beloved characters King Simon and Queen Miriamele, married now for thirty years, and introduces newcomer Prince Morgan, their heir apparent. Also expanded is the story of the twin babies born to Prince Josua and Lady Vorzheva—a birth heralded by prophecy, which has been the subject of feverish fan speculation since the release of To Green Angel Tower in 1993.

Michael Whelan, of course, provided masterful covers for The Dragonbone Chair (IN DAI CHIKIZA), Stone of Farewell, and New York Times bestseller To Green Angel Tower (GREEN ANGEL TOWER). Prints from each volume are available individually and as a set of 3 in our shop—on sale for 10% off until January 5, 2015.
